Guide for Applicants

  • The primary objective of our holiday camps is to provide leisure services for local residents.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and the holder of valid identity documents.
  • The Department does not accept any travel agents’ application for hiring the holiday camps for commercial guesthouses.
  • Applicants who are non-Hong Kong residents/non-SmartPLAY patrons can only book camp places available from the current date to the next 10 days, inclusive of the day of booking.
  • Applicants, along with all of their accompanying campers, must be Hong Kong residents if they wish to book residential camp places 3 months in advance by ballot.  Such restriction does not apply to local schools and the priority groups/organisations.
  • In the event of booking cancellations by applicants or absence of participants, the payment made is non-refundable.  Requests for refund will normally not be entertained.
  • If there is any adjustment to the camp fees or meal charges, applicants will be notified at the time of payment.  Receipts will also be issued to them upon payment.
  • The camp staff will verify the applicants’ identity documents on check-in.
  • Applicants and all of their accompanying campers must observe both the “General Conditions of Use of LCSD Holiday Camps" and “Conditions of Use of LCSD Recreation and Sports Facilities".
  • The Department reserves the right to reject any unqualified applications.
  • Default notices:
    1. Camp staff will conduct random checks on applications made for residential camp places by ballot. If any accompanying camper of the applicants (except priority groups / organisations) is found to be non-Hong Kong residents, a default notice will be served. Within 12 months after the serving of the first default notice, if the applicant concerned is served with a second default notice in any holiday camp, his / her eligibility for advance booking will be suspended for 12 months, except for the booking of day camp and evening camp.
    2. For successful applications made using the individual or priority booking status, if all campers of a group / organisation fail to check in without a valid reason (for all camp types), a default notice will be served on the individual applicant or group / organisation concerned. Within 12 months after the serving of the first default notice, if the applicant or group / organization concerned is served with a second default notice across holiday camps in any camp type, his / her / its eligibility for 3-month or 6-month advance booking will be suspended for 12 months. LCSD will reserve the right to reject his / her / its future applications for camp places.
    3. If individual applicants, for whatever reasons, have to cancel their bookings, the holiday camps concerned must be notified in SmartPLAY system (for SmartPLAY patrons) or writing (for non-SmartPLAY patrons) as soon as possible.  In the case of priority groups/organisations, the holiday camps concerned must be notified in writing at least 20 days before the check-in date.
  • Applicants must undertake/sign a declaration when booking camp places and completing check-in procedures.  The gist of the declaration is as follows:

    2. Declaration by priority groups/organisations:
